Is it true that natural soaps don't last as long as commercial soaps?
Yes, that's because commercial soap is made with synthetic detergents and hardening agents to elongate the life of their bars. Now, do you really want all that crap on your skin? Didn't think so.
So here's how you're going to keep your new SOAK Bath Co, natural soap bar living it's longest life. First I would invest in a soap dish or a soap bag so the bar isn't sitting in a puddle of water. You can find them in the accessories section. Also make sure the soap bar doesn't live in mid stream of shower water. The reason natural soap disintegrates faster is because the water wears away at the ingredients. So the goal is to keep the soap dry between uses. Next, once you're ready to use your beautiful bar, I recommend slicing the bar into four separate pieces. Then bring the one piece into the shower, tub or by the sink at a time while the rest stays dry. You can slice it with a norma chef's knife in the kitchen on a cutting board, it's no more difficult to slice than a carrot. You can also watch this video on my instagram @cksoakbathco channel where I talk about how to preserve your natural soap bar.
My hands are so dry from hand washing, which bar do you recommend for dry skin?
I'm glad you asked, the reason I started making soap years ago was because I got a very bad case of eczema. First on my hands then it started to spread to the rest of my body. I use the Neem Oil Soap bar on a daily basis to help manage eczema. Neem Oil is a plant grown an India that has a lot of nourishing and moisturizing properties. If you're looking for something for dry skin, look up the Neem Oil Soap bar. The Neem Oil Soap bar can be used on the face, full body and/or the hands.
If you need a little more added moisturizer, you may also be interested in the Eczema Care Kit.
My skin is so oily and I'm trying to manage breakouts. Which soap bar would you recommend?
My top recommendation would be the Charcoal Tea Tree Soap bar. I use activated charcoal in this soap bar which naturally helps to pull impurities and excess oils from the skin. Meanwhile, the Tea Tree Essential oil is a natural astringent, and has been suggested to tighten pores and calm redness on the skin. This bar can be used on the face, full body and/or the hands.
If you're not into the smell of Tea Tree, I have created another charcoal soap alternative, the Charcoal Lavender Soap bar. The activated charcoal is in this bar to help pull impurities from the skin and the lavender essential oil has been suggested to soothe redness on the skin.
Do you have any unscented soap bars?
Do you have a shampoo bar?
Yes, currently I have one variety of the zero waste shampoo bar. If you've never used a shampoo bar before, I highly recommend you watch the instagram video I put together about shampoo bars in general. This will be an adjustment for your hair so there will be a transition period of 4-5 weeks while your hair and scalp adapts to the different form of shampoo.
Will your bath bombs leave colouring on my tub, skin or towel?
Nope! Each of the bath bombs is made with a plant based emollient to ensure the oil, water and colour components of the bath bomb don't stick to the tub. This ensures the colour doesn't cling to the side of the tub, your towel or your skin.
I put together a video on instagram @cksoakbathco to demonstrate this: Why our bath bombs don't stain your tub, towel or your skin!
Will the bath bombs that have botanicals like rose petals, lavender buds and calendula petals make a mess of my tub?
Sadly, yes. But it's worth it for the spa like experience am I right? A quick cleaning hack I'd like to share with you on this. Once your done with your new favourite bath bomb, let the botanicals dry in the tub overnight. In the morning you'll find they've dried and can be easily cleaned up by taking a vacuum to suck them up! Maybe wipe it down with a dry cloth first if it's clinging to the side of the tub, but the vacuum works great every time!
How do I use the Cocoa Butter Bath Melts?
The Cocoa Butter Bath Melts are made primarily of raw cocoa butter, giving them a naturally rich chocolate scent. There are no added scents to these bath melts. Each pack comes with six squares, I recommend cutting the squares in half to stretch the package into 12 baths. And really, you just need the half to be effective. Drop the square into a warm bath and you will see it melt into an oil within a minute or two. Massage that oil into the skin while you're in the tub and you'll feel your skin become so hydrated and moisturized. When you decide to get out of the tub (careful, it's slippery) just dab the water off the skin with a towel so you can keep as much of the butter hydrating your pores as possible.
You can watch this video on my instagram @cksoakbathco about what the bath melts are made from and how to use them.
