Peach Cobbler Recipe

Peach Cobbler Recipe

What's a more iconic summer dessert then homemade Peach Cobbler?! I guess maybe ice cream.... but ice cream is incredibly delicious alongside a fresh made Peach Cobbler!

Today, I'm sharing a recipe I whipped up in the kitchen with some leftover fresh peaches. This recipe can also be made with canned peaches if you're in a pinch (or the middle of winter) and have a craving for some fresh Peach Cobbler.

A few tips if you've never made Peach Cobbler before. I peeled and sliced the peaches then put them into a saucepan. The original recipe I was working from called for 3/4 cup of sugar but I dropped it down to 1/4 cup. You could likely heat these up with no sugar at all if you're looking to reduce the sugar content as the peaches themselves produce a really sweet nectar when placed in a saucepan.

The recipe calls to melt the butter down in the baking pan before adding your batter to it. (I thought) this was a little strange but it baked the cobbler beautifully and gave it a delicious buttery crust once it finished baking. When you're adding the "cake" batter to the pan it might seem like you've added too much butter to the pan (but it's what makes this all so delicious). I put all the wet batter into the pan and used a spatula, dragging it back and forth throughout the batter to incorporate the melted butter with the batter, then spooned the peaches over top.

If you'd like to see a quick snapshot of how I made this peach cobbler you'll find an instagram reel @cksoakbathco on how we made this recipe!

Depending when you're reading this, we have come up with an incredible peach scented soap bar called You're a Peach. These peach inspired soap bars are meant to capture the luscious summery scent of peaches and might just have you dreaming of fresh baked Peach Cobbler.

Ingredients

5 peaches, peeled, cored and sliced (about 4 cups)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

For the batter: 6 Tablespoons butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk ground cinnamon

Method

Add the sliced peaches, sugar and salt to a saucepan and stir to combine. (If using canned peaches, skip steps 1 & 2 and follow the directions starting at step 3)

Cook peaches on medium heat for just a few minutes, until the sugar is dissolved. This helps to bring out juices from the peaches. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice butter into pieces and add to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the pan in the oven while it preheats, to allow the butter to melt. Once melted, remove the pan from the oven.

In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk, just until combined. Pour the mixture into the pan, over the melted butter and smooth it into an even layer.

Spoon the peaches and juice (or canned peaches, if using) over the batter. Sprinkle cinnamon generously over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes. Serve warm, with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.
